The word "bahdae" comes from the Susu language of Guinea. It translates to the word "ocean". Bahdae Dance acknowledges our ancestors' deep journey through the Middle Passage. The name was chosen as a symbol of strength beyond the imagination. We recognize the power of the ocean as a source of healing, a source of pain, and the ingredient for survival.
N'wama si ga feh bahdae
