Bahdae Dance was formed in October of 2016 in Dallas and started our first community class the following month at Beckley-Saner Recreation Center.

The word Bahdae comes from the Susu language of Guinea, which translates to the word ocean. Bahdae Dance acknowledges our ancestors deep journey across the Atlantic. We recognize the power of the ocean as a source of healing, a source of pain, and the ingredient for survival.

N'wama si ga feh bahdae
I want to be near the ocean.

There is peace and power down by the riverside.
